Mark Lancaster - Chair

Mark is a proactive and well-connected local figure, his contacts and enthusiasm for supporting the Charity are endless. He is an accomplished screen printer and uses his knowledge and experience to inspire the students and add another dimension to workshops.



Luke Sullivan

Luke is a passionate people person and is involved in local politics. He has management experience including as a senior store manager for a retail chain and as a Fundraising Manager for Friends of the Earth.



Professor Iain Borden

Iain Borden is Professor of Architecture & Urban Culture, and Vice-Dean Education, at The Bartlett, University College London. A historian and urban theorist, his most recent books include Skateboarding and the City: a Complete History (Bloomsbury, 2019), Forty Ways to Think About Architecture (Wiley, 2014) and Drive: Journeys through Film, Cities and Landscapes (Reaktion, 2012). Iain frequently advises on skateboarding culture and skateparks, as well as being an active skateboarder for 40 years.

Mike Vallely

Also known as Mike V, Mike is an American professional skateboarder, musician, actor, television personality, stuntman, and FHL hockey player. As of January 2014, he is the lead singer of the hardcore punk band Black Flag.



Danny Webster

Danny was a professional skateboarder for G&S in the 1980’s and won many accolades and sponsorship’s during his career. Danny is now an avid supporter of the FAR Academy, talking about his skateboarding experiences to our students, attending events and is also guest judge at FAR Skate competitions.





Brent Lewis - Founder & CEO

FAR is a direct result of Brent’s passion for teaching and own personal experience of the failings of mainstream education to be able to cater for all abilities. In his youth, Brent struggled in main stream education and realised that his passion and commitment to better himself grew out of his determination to become a better skateboarder. Brent is now a highly qualified professional teacher and is a leader in the field of alternative education with a proven track record of raising attainment.



Andrea Lewis - Operations Director

Andrea has an extensive skill set and experience in numerous job sectors including hospitality and events management, leisure and tourism, sales administration, charity work and education. She has experience teaching English in Thailand and also working overseas and in the UK in many other roles. Andrea joined the FAR Academy in 2015 and has been instrumental in the setup, running and development of the Charity.



Daniel Bromley - Full-Stack Designer & IT Specialist

Daniel created and maintains the Foundation’s websites, e-commerce, and communications infrastructure (database, email, cloud collaboration, newsletters and forms). He also maintains the computer network, technical support, and designs for and operates the laser cutter and any future incoming technology. Finally he also creates online, print and CNC graphics, and edits audio and video promotional material.  



Martin Boatwright - Skate Tutor

Martin started skating in 1985 and it was his obsession up until 1992 when he joined the Army for 9 years, serving in Norway, Germany and the UK. During that time he also went on operational tours of Bosnia and Kosovo. 

Martin recently discovered The FAR Academy and found it a great way to give back to the community through skateboarding and to encourage the next generation of skateboarders.



Jason Hollingsworth - Finance Director

Jason is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years of professional experience. He has worked with the Board’s of national Charities including Victim Support. Jason joined FAR as a part-time FD in early 2019 and his focus is on future strategy, fundraising and financial control.

John Davis - Construction Tutor

“Before retirement, I worked for the M.O.D. at R.S.M.E. Brompton Barracks in Gillingham, achieving the Advanced Certificate in Education with City & Guilds, and a degree from Christ Church University.
I missed the involvement in teaching, and offered my services as a Volunteer to the FAR Academy, which I thoroughly enjoy.”



Andrew Campbell - Engagement Tutor

“My background is working in the Telecoms’ industry and I later retrained as a psychotherapist. I came across the Far Academy by chance and see it as a very worthwhile enterprise to support. I enjoy the opportunity to use my practical skills and to work with their students, the staff are great as well.”





Katie McDaniel

Katie is a founding Director of Lemon & Honey offering fundraising, events and comms support to charities and not-for-profit organisations. Katie has over 20 years' experience across the business and voluntary sector; most recently staging adrenaline and corporate partnerships for a Kent charity Katie also currently works as an actor and voice over artist, primarily in television and corporate advertisements.



Elizabeth Daone

Liz is the Director of the Horsebridge Arts Centre in Whitstable and has been leading the organisation for eight years. During this time the centre has secured substantial grant funding for a number of projects, including a two year lottery grant to fund work with disadvantaged young people. Liz also has over 20 years’ experience of working in the community and voluntary sector. Working for organisations such as Scope, Camden Society for People with Learning Disabilities, and Kent County Council adoption and fostering service.



Phillip Long

Phillip is a video and art director for Nagual Creations. Since 1992 Nagual Creations have been providing original and visually arresting art installations to the entertainments industry, they are supporting FAR Skate Foundation by producing a promo and fundraising video
